During that time, he worked many jobs and it was while working at a gas station that the struggling Andrews was provided with an opportunity to study music at night as, “The station owners stepped in … with a deal: $50 a week for full-time study, in exchange for a five-year share of possible later earnings”. He later started repaying after signing with Goldwyn.
  2. With Gene Tierney, he worked in 5 films: Tobacco Road (1941), Belle Starr (1941), Laura (1944), The Iron Curtain (1948), and Where the Sidewalk Ends (1950).
  3. Alongside Gene Tierney, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, and Judith Anderson, Dana Andrews co-starred as an obsessed police detective Mark McPherson in the 1944 film noir Laura.
  4. He also appeared in television shows like The Twilight Zone, The American Girls, Family Affair, and Falcon Crest.
  5. He struggled with alcoholism for some time but eventually won the battle. He then actively worked with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.
  6. Dana Andrews suffered from Alzheimer’s disease during the final years of his life which were spent living at the John Douglas French Center for Alzheimer’s Disease in Los Alamitos, California.
